Controller
Responsibilities:
- Controller will run a ledger and understand the necessary data needed to do so.
- Controller will download data from the general ledger, modify a report, etc.
- Candidate should be experienced at the Controller to handle any project or tasked assigned
- Controller will prep financial statements for the audit
- Controller will have 1 direct report - the Accounting Manager
- Controller will provide direction, will review all AP invoices, look at bank recs, audit schedules, etc.
- Controller will assist with ad hoc tasks and projects, as requested
Requirements:
- Previous Controller level professional experience. Should understand debits and credits and audit. Able to figure out what auditors are asking for and what team needs to provide for the audit.
- Any previous audit experience is a plus (the audits are European audits, will interact with auditors over email - European audits are more rigid than US standards)
- Previous nonprofit accounting experience is a must
- Must have experience handling revenue - able to recognize revenue
- NetSuite a plus, will be trained on the system but should be comfortable with technology and have an understanding of some ERP system
- Grants experience is a plus but NOT required
- Previous international experience is a plus but NOT required
- Excel - analytical functions including pivot tables and VLOOKUP's, running simple formulas, filters, sums, etc.
Personality Fit:
- This is a more senior position, so will interact with program directors and department heads so must have capacity to explain finance terms to non-finance people. Interact with people at all levels. Able to prep material for leadership, must have certain level of diplomacy and tact.

- Able to proactively dress the needs of the organization at the Controller level (the CFO is available to answer questions)
