Electronics Test Engineering (ETE) designs, integrates, and deploys test solutions for the development, qualification, and production testing of avionic electronic devices. The organization is a cross-functional team of Project Engineers, Circuit Engineers, Software Engineers, and Test Requirement Engineers. Our team provides a shared service that supports the Program and Product teams, as well as Production facilities around the world.

We are looking to add a Principal Project Engineer to our Electronics Test Engineering team in Rockford, IL. with experience and background in electronic technology/engineering as it relates to electronic production testing. This position directs assigned functional resources in support of test solutions for various Electric Power Systems products for the complete lifecycle.

This position is the primary point of contact for the program office, engineering, and production facilities, to ensure that test solutions are developed on schedule, and within budget.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work in a cross-functional, agile team that includes project, circuits, software, hardware, requirements, and program engineers.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, internal & external customers
  • Create Microsoft Project plans for all program activity
  • Support Earned Value Management (EVMS) program requirements
  • Support project quoting efforts (estimates)
  • Lead effort to acquire funding, Capital (eCAR) as well as Expense, and manage the spend of these funds.
  • Coordinate with the production plant site for all deliverables
  • Track, and ensure configuration control of all test equipment deliverables for assigned programs.
  • Project Engineering/Management of both insourced and outsourced projects. Working with various Business Unit partners to develop a Test Equipment Plan (TEP) that defines the test equipment resource(s) and hours needed, materials and support required, as well as assumptions made while generating the TEP.
  • Strong focus on maintaining internal and external customer satisfaction and quality.
  • Facilitate the requirements generation and design of test equipment to ensure that it meets customer needs and stays within scope of estimate.
  • Develop and/or improve project management related processes.
  • Mentoring of junior engineering staff
  • Some travel may be required, primarily for plant site and supplier visits and is estimated at 10%.
  • Other activities as directed.
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of electronics experience
  • Experience managing projects/programs as described above.
  • MS Office Suite experience - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook
  • SAP experience
  • PMP certification or training

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
