Job Title: Director Operation/Engineering

Reports To: VP of Sales and Marketing

Location: Houston, TX

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Effective Date: 06/18/2024

SUMMARY

Operation Director oversees an organization's daily business activities and responsible for managing its resources, developing, and implementing an operational plan and ensuring that procedures are carried out properly. Additionally, evaluates organizational efficiency and makes necessary changes to maximize staff productivity and assesses the needs of the company and finds ways to contribute to the big picture by ensuring daily operations run smoothly and as efficiently as possible.

The Director of Engineering will oversee product engineering operations and ensure that proper engineering processes and procedures are followed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operation Director

  • Assists upper management in setting goals that promote company growth
  • Oversees daily activity of the team
  • Prepares budgets, schedules, and other organizational reports as needed
  • Provides advice and guidance to other employees
  • Manages team workloads in order to meet goals and deadlines
  • Develops plans to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Improves existing systems and policies
  • Ensures customer requirements are met in a timely manner
  • Promotes and enforces safety in the workplace
  • Manages stock and inventory
  • Oversees manufacturing functions
  • Works closely with other departments to promote efficient factory optimization
  • Identifies improvement areas and plans and implements systems to boost company effectiveness
  • Manages internal and external service suppliers
  • Executes plans designed to meet company goals by changing policies and coaching employees
Engineering Director
  • Deliberate with management, production, and marketing staff on the possible requirements and procedures for a project
  • Organize and manage projects, making detailed plans that work towards the fulfillment of a set objective
  • Examine technology, organizational resources, and the demands of the market in order to plan or give procedures for projects which are practicable or possible
  • Manage the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment, making sure they are executed by the personnel responsible
  • Direct, evaluate, and confirm product design and changes
  • Recruit, assign, direct, and evaluate employees in their workstation
  • Supervise the development and maintenance of staff abilities and suitability in the organization
  • Direct the negotiation of research contracts and also prepare the company's budget, bids, and contracts
  • Set scientific and technical goals in the confines of the organization with the aid of management
  • Consult or negotiate with clients to make arrangements of resources required for a project
  • Setup schemes or designs, and elaborate reports and results to clients
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the organization
  • Administer highway planning, construction, and maintenance
  • Perform administrative functions such as evaluating and writing reports, approving expenditures concerning projects.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Education/Experience - Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering plus ten years of relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of heat transfer concepts and heat exchanger design, testing, operation, testing, and manufacturing
  • Knowledge of vehicle/machine powertrain system operation; knowledge of pumps, fans, motors, engines, transmissions, etc
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly techniques, fasteners, fittings, metal forming, casting, molding, brazing, welding, and leak testing
  • Excellent math skills, problem solving skills, PC skills (including MS Excel and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, PDM, MRP, and web-based applications/programs), and communication skills
  • Knowledge of dimensioning and tolerancing, specifically GD&T
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Able to adapt to a rapidly changing project environment
