They will also develop/design manufacturing processes, improve existing ones, and provide technical support and training to personnel. Essential Functions: (This description is not all inclusive, other duties may be assigned): Responsible for automation and controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation, testing, all safety related components, and start-up assistance Project technical lead and may be responsible for some project management activities including planning and implementation. Cooperate in the development of new products including proof of concept, assembly, testing, and evaluating. Participate in all aspects of controls automation including but not limited to, drafting electrical schematics panel and component specification/layout, wiring, programming, troubleshooting… Provide a communication link among field and Marketing/Sales and Development departments concerning commercial equipment. Assist manufacturing and purchasing departments in the selection and/or substitutes for new and obsolescent parts with equivalent parts. Support field personnel with the troubleshooting of equipment and installation of new products Assist in the investigation and evaluation of product improvement suggestions. Submit verbal and written reports of activities and recommendations to supervisor. Perform other related duties as required or directed. Practical experience and knowledge of complex automated systems including PLC, SCADA, HMI, Motion (VFD, Stepper, servos, robotics); vision platforms and PC/proprietary systems. Experience with design and debugging of ladder logic. Ability to produce and read electrical schematic diagrams and layout electrical control panels. Solid understanding of UL and NFPA codes related to industrial control panels. A solid understanding of Object-Oriented programming practices. Electrical/Electronic theory training. Experience with programming and integration of industrial robots Preferred Education and Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in manufacturing or other technical field working on automated systems. Formal training and/or certification with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLCs Experience with UI design, XAML and MVVM design pattern a plus. Experience with machine vision systems to include specifying camera, lenses, lighting solutions and vision tool programming. Troubleshooting and maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. Familiarity with Solid Works or equivalent 3D design software. Proven track record in engineering leadership and experience in the development and implementation of standard engineering practices and GMP. Participant in the development and/or implementation of any process or standard including ISO, LEAN, JIT, NFPA. Required Skills: Must be highly motivated and have a positive attitude. Must be self-motivated, team oriented, and "hands-on." Detailed oriented and possess excellent follow up skills. Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills Versatile and able to perform and manage multiple tasks concurrently. Well organized and able to work well with constantly changing priorities. Dependable and able to meet and exceed delivery schedules. Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision. Able to absorb, assimilate and synthesize information quickly.
