Job Summary
The Music Department Recording & Livestream Engineer is responsible for setting up, operating, and striking equipment used for live streams and recordings of Music Department events. The engineer will be familiar with music performances in many genres within an academic setting, working with the Concert and Events Manager and event performers, as well as production managers in other departments to determine the given technical requirements of a given event. The engineer will be responsible for inspecting and maintaining the Department's live streaming and recording equipment. The engineer must be familiar with mixing and mastering of music, audio routing, OBS, and audio editing. The engineer must be available for all of the agreed-upon dates as determined at the beginning of each academic year.
Job Duties
- 80% - Set up and calibrate live stream equipment, operate live streaming hardware and software, tear down and store live stream equipment. - (Essential)
- 10% - Communicate with Concert and Events Manager and other relevant parties about technical needs for event live streaming. - (Essential)
- 10% - Inspect and maintain Music Department live streaming hardware and software. - (Essential)
- Minimum of two years of experience working in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Video Production or related field.
- Experience working with academic institutions.
- Excellent time management, problem solving and communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Broad knowledge and experience of event workflow, audio and video signal routing, music and live sound mixing, audio hardware and musical instruments, sound/mixing boards, music and recording production.
- Basic knowledge and experience of acoustics, musical styles and traditions, and the academic environment.
Software:Open Broadcasting Software (OBS), RME Totalmix, Ladiocast, YouTube Studio, Digital Audio Workstations, and MacOS. - Hardware: RME Fireface UFX II, Canon XF605 UHD 4K HDR Pro Camcorder, and Panasonic Lumix G7.
- Certificate, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Music, or other related field.
- Minimum of four years of experience working in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Video Production or related field.
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $40.00/hr
