Position Summary:
The Director of Production oversees the production of all shows. This position serves as a liaison to the venue and artist management, ensuring all show needs are met and stay within budget. It includes managing production managers, assigning them to specific shows, and training them on production tasks and settlement processes. Additionally, this role involves handling show and event settlements, coordinating with finance, and specifying payment procedures for artists, vendors, and venues, while maintaining relationships with agents and venue personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Manage Relationships: Work with the artist and manager, alongside the production manager and agent, to review show details and advance production needs.
- Oversee Production Managers: Assign production managers to specific shows, provide ongoing training on production and settlement procedures, and monitor their work for consistency and efficiency.
- Coordinate with Vendors and Venues: Act as a liaison for the venue, caterers, security, event staff, and other vendors, including those handling equipment rentals and show design (e.g., staging, sound, lights, video), ensuring all details are managed before the show date.
- Serve as Point of Contact: Be the main contact during shows and support other events at different venues as needed.
- Handle Show Settlements: Prepare and submit invoices to accounting, manage event settlements, and ensure accurate payments to artists, vendors, and venues, in collaboration with finance.
- Budget Management: Oversee the production budget, monitor costs, and break down expenses as necessary, ensuring all financials stay within budget.
- Vendor and Union Relations: Manage labor relations, including unions, to ensure positive event outcomes. Build and maintain rapport with vendors and sales representatives to secure favorable terms.
- BA/BS Degree (4-year) in a related field
Experience Qualifications - 6-8 years of related work experience
- Previous leadership experience
- Experience working in the music or entertainment industry
- Knowledge of overall show production
- Ability to compare/analyze documentation
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word) and Adobe software
- Team-oriented with a calm demeanor and positive attitude
- Strong technical foundation
- Willingness to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
