Job Description Job Description Scope of Position:The Fundraising & Outreach Coordinator is a vital member of the HSJC team and provides support to the shelter and its Board of Directors. This two-pronged full-time, exempt position assists the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Committee Chairpersons, by planning, coordinating and/or assisting with fundraising efforts, educating students and the public on animal issues, and by creating a positive image for the organization. This role is also responsible for: planning, implementing, executing, and tracking fundraising by focusing on strategic sponsorship initiatives aimed to raise shelter awareness, support HSJCs mission and strengthen the shelters market position. This position will also secure resources needed to grow and implement program activities and assist in grant writing efforts. The Coordinator role will require some nights and week-end work when necessary, and will maintain a commitment to the HSJC philosophies and policies in the performance of his/her job responsibilities and respects the dignity and welfare of all.Responsibilities:The Fundraising & Outreach Coordinator responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Community OutreachSupport, build, and maintain a positive community image.Support HSJC fundraising by soliciting sponsors for HSJC events, publications and programs including fundraising (donations, fees, contests, etc.) in public/educational activities as appropriate including use of shelter facilities.Work with the Executive Director to maintain and establish partnerships with local schools (public and private) and teachers using humane education in their curriculum.o Respond to and schedule requests for education presentations.o Research humane education programs as needed and update curriculum.Conduct education shelter tours and other on-site educational programs as directed.Respond to requests and schedule use of HSJCs Community Room according to its policy.Ensure open and honest communications with the Executive Director and Board Committee Chairperson(s).o Provide written monthly status reports of the program development and/or activity/event results to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.FundraisingDevelop and coordinate fundraising efforts and support the Board of Directors Fundraising Committee events.Responsible for the creation, development, and maintenance of new sponsorship relationships, working closely with local businesses, fellow non-profit community organizations, and affiliated foundations.Proactively identify potential corporate partners.o Engage and schedule meetings to discuss sponsorship opportunities with local businesses, fellow non-profit organizations and affiliated industries, follow-up development sponsorship proposals, and communicate results and decisions to Executive Director.Create sponsorship support materials, including advertising and collateral material, in partnership with the Executive Director and the Information Specialist, while maintaining consistency with brand guidelines.o Collaborate with external/internal design and/or production firms on creative ideas and design options of sponsorship support materials.In cooperation with the Executive Director, negotiate sponsorship agreements and serve as liaison with corporate partners on sponsorship implementation.Responsible for all aspects of sponsorships financial management including coordinating sponsor invoicing and tracking of program components.o Establish tracking mechanisms, monitor the impact of programs, and optimize as necessary.Assist the Executive Director in finding, writing, tracking, and reporting on monetary grants.Qualifications:The Fundraising & Outreach Coordinator responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Bachelors degree (preferred).Experience with or willingness and ability to learn the necessary management skills to perform his/her job in a satisfactory or higher level.Good oral and written skills, including ability and willingness to do public speaking at schools, senior homes, business and service organizations and the media.Ability to research current community needs.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from funders, clients, and the public.Makes decisions daily on use of resources, performance, and outreach opportunities.Multitasking, organizational and time management skills.Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised.Ability and desire to support a team effort.Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings and/or weekends as needed.Ability to Work with HSJCs team members and its Board of Directors.Maintain a commitment to HSJC philosophies, policies, procedures, and issues and support them.Valid Wisconsin drivers license.Possesses computer and software skills required along with proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, donor, and shelter database experience helpful.Work Environment / Physical Demands: The shelters work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the responsibilities of their job.Safety procedures must be adhered to without exception:Exposure to dogs, cats, and small animals of all sizes and varying degrees of behavior and/or medical conditions.Responsible To: Executive DirectorCompany Description The mission of the Humane Society of Jefferson County is to care for the lost, homeless and abused animals of Jefferson County, help place them in forever homes, and work to inspire kinder and more humane communities.
