May be responsible for inspections within a specialty area and for the preparation of take offs, punch lists, and sketches.Responsibilities Provide technical assistance to field engineers, superintendents and craft. Oversee and maintain Project Field Welding program. Provide specialized welding engineering support to ensure construction meets all code and site requirements. Implementation of the project ES&H program and quality control program. Manage and provide oversight of filler metal control and distribution. Working knowledge of our corporate welding procedures and standards. Coordinate and support the project NDE program. Ensure that only qualified welders are allowed to withdraw filler material. Manage the filler metal and consumable inventory. Interface with the lead welding engineer for direction of work task assigned. Perform oversight of inspections and documentation of all subcontractor welding & NDE work in progress on a continuing basis. As requested, Trouble-shoot engineering design and resolve issues with engineering and/or fabricator. May be asked to assist in field Pre & PWHT operations as well as providing technical direction when necessary. WITS and TEAMworks database experience in desirable. Must be knowledgeable in ASME, AWS, and other applicable industry standards. Knowledge and understanding of Bechtel's SWPP 4MP-T81-03701 Welding Program, 03702 Welder Training & Instructor Qualification, 03703 Positive Material Identification, and 03705 Welding & NDE Documentation is desirable. Manage, issue, and maintain welder qualifications and welder stamps.Qualifications and SkillsBasic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related subject from an accredited university and 1 year of Field welding related experience or, in lieu of a degree, 7 years of directly field welding related experience. Must possess the right to work in the United States without sponsorship. Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment, education and travel. Must be able to obtain a site security badge for access to the worksite. Must be able to take and pass Bechtel's Level II VT NDE certification Additional Qualifications Knowledge of basic construction principles. Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program.
