Director of Human Resource is responsible for the overall strategic direction and oversight of the human resources function, including recruitment, compensation, employee benefit coordination, employee relations, payroll processing for up to 280 employees (across multiple states and branch locations). The successful candidate will provide leadership development and focus on employee and supervisor training, recruitment, on-boarding, and safety and regulatory compliance. Additional requirements is that you will be a resource for managers on complex issues such as policy enforcement, employee discipline including staying in compliance with federal and state wage and hour regulations. This position will report to the COO.

Duties and Responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain various programs including recruiting, hiring, promotion, and termination processes • Coordinate employee recruitment from creating the job posting to on-boarding and safety orientation • Ensure accurate payroll processing for hourly, salary and commission employees • Accounting for employee pay and benefits • Oversee employee records management and Paylocity maintenance • Employee relations • Benefits administration (including Medical, Dental, Vision, Workers’ Compensation, FMLA, 401(k), etc.) • Coordinate employee benefit renewals and open enrollment; ensure retirement plan options are compliant, and benefits eligibility is communicated timely • Oversee record keeping of employee’s time-off called “bank of hours” • Reconcile monthly employee benefit invoices and payroll schedules • Implement HR policies and procedures that comply with labor laws and regulations • Perform compliance audits in adherence to state and federal laws • Update and ensure compliance of employee handbook, policies and procedures, and records retention • Support managers in employee relations, disciplinary actions, performance management and improvement plans, FMLA, ADA, Workers' Compensation, and leave. • In collaboration with managers, create new positions; assist with job description including development and updates. • Assist with annual employee performance reviews, continuing education, certifications, and staff recognition • Additional duties and specific projects can be assigned Expectations: • Possess a clear understanding of and personal commitment to Austin Hose’s mission and values. • Maintain knowledge of wage and employment laws and regulations • Be timely and dependable, maintain confidentiality, and manage sensitive employee information with discretion. • Comply with federal, state and company policies, procedures, and regulations. • Professional, respectful treatment of managers, employees, guests, owners, and customers. Be objective. • Successfully operate as a member of a cross-functional team of owners, managers, employees, consultants, and contractors.

Qualifications and Requirements: • Bachelor's degree preferred in human resources, business, or related field or a minimum of five years proven human resources and payroll experience. SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR a plus. • Thorough knowledge of HR principles and functions of state and federal employment regulations, including OSHA and USDOT. • Accounting background is highly preferred • Understanding of labor laws and disciplinary procedures • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Experience in TEAMs platform. A plus if knowledgeable of Paylocity system. • Broad generalist background that includes payroll administration and implementation, compensation, and benefits. • Proven ability to work with little supervision, and to organize and complete tasks within deadlines. • Must be a self-starter with exceptional communication skills, neat and detail oriented, able to think quickly, work well under pressure, prioritize, and have good people skills. • Exceptional project and personnel management skills.
