This position is based in Parsippany, New Jersey. Hybrid work from certain states may be permitted in accordance with Astellas Responsible Flexibility Guidelines. Candidates interested in hybrid work are encouraged to apply.
**Purpose:**
A field-based role and serve as the patient reimbursement expert for retina accounts. This role primarily focuses on educating and the on-boarding of core programs that will support appropriate patient access to therapy. Proactively engages with retina accounts in-person (or virtually, as needed) within an assigned geography to provide an education on company programs that support patient access, acquisition pathways, and a wide range of provider reimbursement topics within the buy & bill reimbursement model. This role needs to possess an in-depth knowledge of the buy & bill reimbursement model, workflow complexity and the in-office implications of this model for providers and their staff. Maintain a local market expertise and overlay payer policy for proactive identification of a wide range of access and reimbursement topics; acting as the lead regional and local resource for the key internal stakeholders they will collaborate with appropriately, with the goal of creating a best-in-class patient access and customer experience.
This role must adhere to legal, compliance, privacy requirements and be fiscally responsible. Must also perform all responsibilities in a manner consistent with company guidance.
**Essential Job Responsibilities:**
+ Proactively provide access & reimbursement education to retina offices across the full buy & bill continuum from product acquisition to billing & coding, patient affordability to payer coverage.
+ Proactively educate and on-board retina offices appropriately onto the patient services programs and services.
+ Anticipate potential account-level patient access barriers and address quickly, including close partnership with the National Accounts team on potential local payer challenges.
+ Share appropriate insights and local market trends with retina accounts in the local geography on payer policy updates and reimbursement experiences.
+ Demonstrate excellent account and territory planning and prioritization skills in the geographical area of responsibility.
+ Work cross functionally and collaboratively with key internal partners to act as the reimbursement and payer policy subject matter expert, to support the healthcare provider segment.
+ Coordinate closely with field and headquarters colleagues to facilitate, implement, and execute the overall corporate goals and objectives.
+ Serve as local geography expert on a wide range of access & reimbursement-related challenges and opportunities, sharing insights with internal partners.
+ Execute, meet (or exceed) the role accountabilities compliantly within company guidance and through completion of training requirements.
+ Execution of all approved company key performance indicators.
**Qualifications Required:**
+ Bachelors Degree required, in a science or business-related discipline preferred.
+ 5-8 years of experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries including at least 3-5 years in Field Reimbursement.
+ Expertise in reimbursement pathways, buy and bill experience is required.
+ Experience working with sophisticated and complex practices.
+ Expertise integrating manufacturer-sponsored patient support programs.
+ Direct experience and in-depth knowledge of the Retina community preferred.
+ Strong team player with deep cross-functional field and headquarters partnership experience
+ Possess a strong payer policy understanding of commercial payers, Medicare plans, and state Medicaid in assigned geographic regions.
