Business Development Specialist

Our Lamar office in Bridgeport, West Virginia, is now hiring a Business Development Specialist to help us bring innovative outdoor advertising campaigns to life for brands in Elkins, WV, and the surrounding areas. The purpose of the Business Development Specialist (BDS) position is to meet and exceed sales objectives in the assigned territory by promoting and selling outdoor advertising to qualified advertisers. The primary goal of the BDS is to generate new business from accounts that have never billed with Lamar Advertising.

The selected candidate should expect to spend their time working directly with clients and prospects in the Elkins, WV territory and expected to report to the Bridgeport, WV office 1x per week.
What you can expect from us:
- A Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm work hybrid schedule with paid holidays
- A commission-based pay structure with an annual base salary of $45,000 and a first-year earning potential of $45,000 - uncapped including commissions, dependent on experience and selling ability.

- Able and willing to become a product expert in outdoor advertising, including comprehensive knowledge of installation and product details
- Solid working knowledge of general sales techniques
- Results oriented in cold calling and making persuasive oral presentations
- Superb interpersonal skills to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Driven to establish rapport, earn trust and foster cooperative internal and external working relationships
- Tech savvy with computers, sales software, Microsoft Office Suite on Surface Pros, and quick to learn new technology
- Effective communication skills, consistently producing grammatically-accurate routine business correspondence
- Proven adaptability to perform well under fluctuating workloads and competing deadline
- Intrinsically motivated to succeed, resilient in the face of rejection
- Maintain a professional sales appearance
- Capable of working independently, following through on assignments with minimal direction
Required
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A valid driver's license
- Minimum of 1 year sales experience
- Experience in a sales or marketing-based environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

A day in the life:
- Responsible for selling and actively closing advertising sales to previous customers or new prospects.
- Handle entire sales process from lead generation to close; reach or exceed monthly sales quotas.
- Identify potential growth areas, open new accounts and increase Lamar's market share by selling all products.
- Actively pursue networking and business-building relationships and opportunities.
- As needed, perform clerical duties that include, but are not limited to, generating proposals, sales contracts, production orders, and artwork.
- Track activity, prepare and maintain records for sales leads and account status.
- Make outbound sales calls to secure sales & schedule appointments.
- Prepares sales presentations and proposals.
- Provides product, promotion, and pricing information by clarifying customer request; selecting appropriate information; forwarding information; answering questions.
- Maintains customer database or CRM by inputting customer profile and updates; preparing and distributing reports.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Create and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly sales plans a month in advance
- Use sales tools and complete daily planner/sales program after each call and at the end of the day
- Other sales and marketing job related duties as assigned by the General Manager and Sales Manager
- The primary work environment for this position is a combination of an office environment and work in the field making sales calls and servicing existing accounts.
- The physical demands for this position include light lifting, seeing (with a focus on reading, color distinction, acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision), sitting less than 50% of the time, standing, talking, turning, and walking.
- Nights spent away from home traveling are less than 10%
