Senior Civil Design Engineer Department: Civil/Municipal Employment Type: Full Time Location: Detroit, MI Description The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. Our talented staff of more than 450 professionals deliver integrated planning, design, engineering, and construction solutions. Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to assist with our projects in Detroit, MI Key Responsibilities Design and preparation of a variety of municipal water/wastewater and roadway design projects. Assist with coordination with fellow MSG staff across a variety of services sectors including: Surveying, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, Site Construction, etc. Leading the preparation of transportation design plans/3D modeling for local agency transportation and/or municipal utility projects. Perform and check various design calculations and various tasks as they relate to preparing a design package. Providing technical expertise/guidance to junior staff. Preparing special provisions, plan development, storm water modeling and design, cost estimates, and detailed design plans. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise 8+ years practical experience in design and plan preparation of municipal utility and roadway projects. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. PE certification in the state of Michigan. Experience with industry design standards (e.g. MDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, etc.). Understanding of guidelines and specifications. Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D grading or Open Roads Designer is required. Proficiency in independent preparation of Hydraulic/Hydrologic reports and roadway design experience is preferred.
