Location: This role can be based in Kansas City, but it could be also located in DeKalb, Conroe, Parsons or Winchester with hybrid flexibility.
As part of a service-oriented- IT organization, the IT Project Manager's role is to plan, and manage IT projects to support CST. This includes gathering and analyzing data and documenting business processes and requirements. The individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefits of IT systems development and act as a liaison between program manager, product owner, users and technical staff to define requirements and business cases for technology developments.
The role is also responsible for resource coordination, Quality Control and user communications.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Participate in setting organizational application support and maintenance strategy.
- Establish policies and procedures for managing IT projects.
- Work with the business to identify areas where enhanced or new IT solutions can better enable business processes or drive business efficiencies or reduce cost.
- Evaluate customer processes, issues and needs to facilitate the definition of technical system requirements.
- Participate in research and collaborate with technical staff and users in the design, development and testing of information system solutions.
- Creates and executes project plans and revises as appropriate to meeting changing requirements.
- Manages day to day operational aspects of a project and scope.
- Writes requirement documents when no business analyst is available.
- Prepares and delivers project status to the project owner as well as follow up issues.
- Defines the deliverables, develops criteria for successful completion and achieves targeted deliverables within time and budget estimates.
- Develops project charter, business cases and gets owner to agree to scope of project.
- Facilitate and organize daily stand-up meetings, iteration sizing and planning, retrospectives, and product demonstrations.
- Plan, coordinate and execute unit, integration and acceptance testing to ensure systems meet the business requirements.
- Provide training and ensure customer proficiency in newly implemented tools and applications.
- Identify and remove any impediments or obstacles that prevent the delivery team from attaining iteration goals.
- Report schedule progress, team status and issues to senior management.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, creativity, and innovation.
- Maintains a moderate and increasing level of proficiency in software and other technologies supported by the IT Dept.
- Creates and/or updates documentation that benefits end-users (e.g. how-to manuals) and/or other IT personnel (e.g. program documentation and IT processes).
- Bachelor's Degree in the field of computer science, Management of Information Systems, Business Management or related field.
- At least six years of experience working with enterprise IT projects.
Possess skills in the following:
- Experience in managing IT Projects.
- Experience developing test cases and test plans.
- Experience with relational databases and data tools.
- Experience with wireframes and flowcharts.
- Experience with Agile tools such as Azure DevOps.
- Excellent understanding of enterprise application workflows.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is a plus.
- Familiar with current technology concepts, practices, and procedures
- Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
- Strong customer service and teamwork skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
- Flexible and adaptable in regard to learning and understanding new technologies.
- Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to properly prioritize and work multiple tasks.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
