The Warehouse Manager is responsible for driving the overall operations of the distribution center, with direct accountability for leading, motivating and coaching their teams. The Warehouse Manager will manage and drive goals through their front-line leadership team to meet and exceed safety, delivery, quality and budgets while adhering to the company’s values. In addition, this role will work with upper management to identify and lead the implementation of continuous improvement projects across the DC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish KPI’s and strategy for your specific value streams and/or shifts and drive alignment through your team to meet or exceed targets
Overall accountability of warehouse safety, quality, productivity and lean goals
Maps out process flows and creates SOP’s an WIS’s as required
Help define and manage budget in the areas of labor (hours and cost), packaging, maintenance, purchasing of supplies, vendor management and other associated costs
Direct staff in the development, analysis, and preparation of reports (e.g. employee productivity, quality and safety performance reports, departmental processes, etc.)
Maintain a clean, safe working environment for all associates by – ensuring CAYGO (Clean as you go) is enforced; all equipment, areas and building structures are inspected daily with preventative maintenance scheduled and completed timely; all associates are issued and wear required PPE (Personal protective equipment); all safety policies and procedures are adhered to; all unsafe conditions are reported, addressed and resolved immediately; all injury/incident reporting is completed in a timely manner
Manage department activities and special projects to ensure efficiency and quality while exceeding daily order response and program goals
Assist, participate and support in any external company sales events
Partner with leadership team to drive changes and improvements to standard operating procedures, work instructions, and other documented training
Support the ongoing efforts of Lean Management Operations within the facility, including reiterating a “6S” culture through ensuring the warehouse docks are clean and organized
Lead process improvement projects through the use of prescribed methodologies and tools
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) of the facility’s warehouse management system
Directly lead, manage, coach, & develop your direct report leadership team in accordance with company policies and procedures
Drive vision and strategy through multiple levels of leadership, ensuring clear goals and accountability are established and executed
Ensure your leadership team has the training, tools and support to effectively manage front-line associates
Provide ongoing mentorship, cross-training, and development in all areas of your department
Conduct performance reviews and coaching for your leadership team
Responsible for interviewing, selecting, and hiring warehouse leadership team
Support and coach your direct report leadership team with employee relations and corrective action issues
Communicate to the organization on topics of daily goals, performance and company initiatives as required
Effectively communicate in an accurate and timely manner to both internal and external customers, including senior management
Performs other duties, as assigned
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor’s/4-year degree required or 8+ years of progressive leadership experience required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other job-related applications (ability to utilize Pivot Tables and VLookup is preferred)
Deep knowledge of distribution: logistics, fulfillment, operations, and facilities
Strong track record of leading leaders; developing talent and empowering them to be successful
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently is required. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
Ability to identify and understand complex issues, analyze, and compare data, and draw conclusions as a result of analysis
Advance problem-solving and decision-making is required
Ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities to complete individual and group tasks
Maintain elevated performance under pressure to meet the company’s expectations and displays the ability to address stressful situations in a manner that is professional, and measured
Use interpersonal skills to help build a cohesive team and facilitate the completion of team goals
Read, analyze, and interpret regulations and procedures, and appropriately respond to common inquiries and grievances when interacting with employees
Knowledge and understanding of OSHA guidelines
Ability to lift 50lbs
Ability to operate all MHE at the warehouse
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are that of a standard distribution center; employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and high noise levels
Occasional travel may be required; 5-10%
