Job Description

JT4, LLC China Lake is looking for a seasoned and motivated Electrical Field Engineer. The ideal candidate will be able to provide support to the range by bringing a wide range of knowledge, ranging from the design and implementation of electrical systems to the identification and resolution of power system issues. The Electrical Field Engineer will excel in the optimization of operations and be committed to delivering high-quality solutions.

Successful candidate is eligible for a sign-on bonus and participate in other bonus programs.

JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapon's systems and air crews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

**This position is located at China Lake and is not eligible for telework**

Range Specific Requirements

  • Experience with designing, troubleshooting, testing, preventative maintenance and implementation of electrical systems ranging from 50HZ to 400HZ, complying with codes and customer requirements.
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical issues related to electrical components, wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Knowledgeable on how to conduct field surveys or review maps, diagrams or other data to assist with identifying and correcting power system problems.
  • Familiarity with maintaining switchgears, circuit breakers, transformers and motor control centers.
  • Experience with estimating labor, material and construction costs for budget purposes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Train junior personnel on proper use of electrical equipment and tools.
Job SummaryEssential Functions/Duties

A Field Engineer IV performs as a lead on more complex field engineering assignments and perform a variety of engineering assignments involving technology applications involved in the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of complex electronic/mechanical equipment and systems.

Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:
  • Apply knowledge of design specifications for more complex systems/projects.
  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
  • Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
  • Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
  • Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations may be required.

RequirementsEducation, Technical, and Work Experience

Field Engineer IV: An associate's degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 12 years of experience in the specialty field are required for this position.

In addition, a Field Engineer IV must possess the following qualifications:
  • Broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable performance as a senior technical contributor on complex projects or programs
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Planning/organizational skills
Field Engineer III: An associate's degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the specialty field are required for this position.

In addition, a Field Engineer III must possess the following qualifications:
  • Broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable performance as a senior technical contributor on complex projects or programs
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Planning/organizational skills
Field Engineer II: An associate's degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of seven years of experience in the specialty field are required for this position.

In addition, a Field Engineer II must possess the following qualifications:
  • Professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles and familiarity with related engineering fields
  • Practical knowledge of test methods and practices sufficient to perform routine to more complex engineering procedures and to prepare or make minor modifications of standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions
  • Effective communication and written communication skills
  • Planning/organizational skills
Salary

Salary Ranges for the above positions:

Field Engineer II - $69,409.60 to $102,822.70

Field Engineer III - $81,286.40 to $125,359.20

Field Engineer IV - $92,164.80 to $142,130.60

Note: The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay. JT4 LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.
