Senior Cost Accountant

Job Summary:
KEMET, a YAGEO company, is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant in our Simpsonville, SC location. This role works with internal customers in the accounting, manufacturing, and other SG&A organizations and is responsible to ensure that monthly reporting of manufacturing costs and inventories are in accordance with IFRS, reconciled and meet all reporting requirements of parent company YAGEO.
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
Analyze and reconcile intercompany cost of sales and revenues
Budget Process – Work with departmental owners to provide adhoc analysis on prior year trends, load and consolidate budget amounts to financial reporting system, prepare budget to actual explanations for relevant year over year changes, etc.
Prepare variance summary analysis.
Reconcile inventory accounts. Coordinate with all the plant accountants the reconciliation of all the inventory accounts monthly.
Analysis of Variable, Fixed and Depreciation costs.
Prepare weekly inventory reporting to management.
Calculate Monthly Obsolescence Reserves for aged inventory
Prepare and distribute ad hoc reporting for senior management.
Maintain Corporate Costing Team inventory process controls and ensure monthly compliance and updates as necessary
Work with internal and external audit teams to assist in providing inventory requests, journals, worksheets and explanations as necessary to facilitate the audit process
Manage and coordinate the accounting side of the Full Physical Inventory counts at all outside warehouses, consignment locations, and Simpsonville plant. Prepare detailed count workbooks, adjustments, and reconciliation for all warehouses and Simpsonville plant.
Responsible for establishing rules for the calculation of standard cost during the budget process.
Perform cost accounting close procedures at corporate level.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or related field. Minimum of three to five years general, cost accounting, or public accounting experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Possess strong cost accounting knowledge and experience working with integrated financial systems.
Possess the ability to understand the manufacturing process and how to build the accounting flow from that process.
Possess strong knowledge in standard cost, what they represent, how they work and how to add value to the operations using them.
Demonstrated ability to organize and lead cost reduction projects as well as strong planning skills.
Oracle Manufacturing
Costing expertise
Oracle manufacturing implementation experience preferred.
Experience with inventory transactions, bill of materials, routings, overhead cost allocations and cost accounting process.
Cost analysis, standard cost definition, bill of materials and routings revision, variance analysis.
Oracle Financial User, as part of the cost accounting activities, need to understand all the transactions of inventory in the company, that Include Raw Material transactions, Work in process, Finished goods, sales, Payables, etc.
