Department Summary
The University of North Texas G. Brint Ryan College of Business is the choice of more than 9,000 students and more than 2,000 graduate students - making it one of the largest business schools in the nation. Since 1961, the college has been continuously accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) - a hallmark of the world's best business schools. Nationally recognized and cutting-edge degrees, enable students to learn beyond the classroom so they can become leaders in their field.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for advising students on degree/program requirements and course scheduling. Maintains and updates student status records, transcript evaluations, degree plan audits, and graduation applications. Responsible for taking a leadership role in training and mentoring other advisors, participating in outreach/recruitment activities, managing special projects and/or serving as a subject matter expert on specialized majors and determining how transfer credits apply toward degree requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and two years' of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, or professional academic advising.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Ability to use a variety of complex computer applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work independently and lead project teams effectively.
- Considerable knowledge of university policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Strong public speaking and communication skills.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Prepare and update degree audits: evaluating and applying transfer work in accordance with University and College policies.
- Advise students individually and in group settings regarding degree requirements and University and College Policies. Make referrals to campus offices as necessary.
- Process graduation applications and degree plans: as assigned to meet RCoB and University deadlines.
- Prepare and present Ryan College of Business degree information at new student orientations and other group activities.
- Demonstrate commitment and ability to support a diverse group of individuals within the academic community.
- Contribute to the overall organizational health and performance of the Ryan College of Business Undergraduate Programs Office through teamwork, knowledge sharing, professional development and professional relationship building.
Work Schedule:
M-F 8am to 5pm may include some evenings and weekends.
