**Description**

Join our sourcing team as a Senior Buyer to develop, qualify and work with ingredient suppliers to ensure supply of high quality raw materials to meet production requirements. Work with Planning, Supplier Quality, Culinary, Manufacturing, Food Safety and Leadership teams on the strategic sourcing of raw materials for new and existing products. Maintain processes and procedures necessary to support production, planning and scheduling activities to meet manufacturing objectives.

**A TYPICAL DAY**

* Develop, recommend and implement ingredient strategy for purchasing.

* Engages suppliers to focus on quality supply assurance to optimize the overall supply chain.

* Works with Material Planning to ensure purchased items are available according to MRP requirements.

* Engages with suppliers to focus on price, quality, service and sustainability to optimize the value within Amys supply chain.

* Communicate timely and effectively with owners, executives, managers, supervisors, leads, etc.; relaying critical information.

* Provide support and assistance in problem resolution.

* Continuously monitor supplier performance and maintains good supplier relations.

* Works across functions to obtain requested items for new products and monitor paperwork relevant to the qualification, to ensure acceptability of purchased item.

* Partner with Supplier Quality department as necessary to resolve issues regarding qualification of purchased items or items under consideration for future use.

* Primary point of contact between Amys departments and assigned suppliers.

* Investigate and act upon opportunities for ingredients abroad as Amys expands into the international marketplace.

* Other duties as assigned relevant to Sourcing.

* It is the responsibility of all employees to uphold the mission of the Amys Food Safety and Quality Policy. This includes following all Food Safety and Sustainability programs and participating in all required training.

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

* Technical level expertise in principals of procurement in a production environment and in planning, negotiation and contracting for materials.

* At least 5 years total experience in sourcing or supplier development for raw or pack materials; 3 years of which are specific to the commodity listed below:

**Ingredient Buyer Education and/or Experience:** Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) degree in Business or related field, or equivalent applicable work experience in Purchasing and at least 3 years experience buying food products or ingredients.

**OTHER QUALIFICATIONS**

* Possess a high level of diplomatic skills in order to successfully negotiate written and unwritten (price or performance) agreements with suppliers.

* Understand and communicate with suppliers general organic principles as it applies to ingredients currently sourced or being considered.

**LOCATION**

This position can be a remote opportunity or based in our Petaluma, California office. This job will require 20-30% travel for supplier development or improvement. #LI-Remote
