Job Overview
In the world of food production, the quality of the final product is heavily reliant on the raw materials utilized. As an Ingredient Procurement Specialist, your role will be pivotal in orchestrating the acquisition of essential ingredients to facilitate the manufacturing of our organic food products, adhering to established protocols and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute strategies for sourcing raw and packaging materials.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality assurance and optimize the supply chain.
- Coordinate with Material Planning to guarantee timely material releases based on MRP requirements.
- Oversee processes that support planning and scheduling related to manufacturing, including purchasing, production control, and inventory management.
- Ensure the availability of materials to meet production schedules and operational goals.
- Maintain effective communication with all organizational levels, providing critical updates and information.
- Assist receiving and inspection teams in resolving issues related to materials.
- Continuously assess and enhance supplier performance while fostering strong supplier relationships.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Sourcing Management Team.
All employees are expected to uphold the mission of Amy's Food Safety and Quality Policy, which includes adherence to all Food Safety and Sustainability programs and participation in required training.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited institution or equivalent experience in procurement, preferably within the food sector. A minimum of two years of relevant experience in procurement within a production environment is required. Proficiency in planning, negotiation, and contracting for materials is essential.

- Familiarity with organic farming practices and quality control standards for organic crops.
- Experience in sourcing packaging components.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage extensive data and multitask effectively.
- Positive attitude in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage with senior management, growers, and processors.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management capabilities.
