Summary
The PACS Informatics Specialist is responsible for all data exported and imported from and to the JHS PACS System; which includes data exported and imported via CD, DVD, Film Hardcopy, Paper Hardcopy, MOD, USB Flash Drives, and other media.
Responsibilities
Prepare Medical Records for all legal subpoena cases and depositions. Performs accurate collection of funds for exported patient studies and/or images. Keeps accurate audit trails of all medical records exported out of the JHS PACS System. Responsible for importing patient images to the JHS PACS System; which includes data imported via Hardcopy Film Digitization, CD, DVD, USB Flash Drives and other media. Serves as a physician and clinician PACS Informatics workflow educator and JHS PACS Trainer. Ensures patients' most recent relevant prior comparison films and/or digital studies/images are available in the JHS PACS for comparison in a timely manner. Ensures patients' Foreign Films from other institutions are accurately archived in to the JHS PACS in a timely manner. Enters accurate and efficient data entry and orderable into the Cerner RadNet RIS Application and JHS PACS System. Resolves Exceptions/Orphan Studies/Images within the JHS PACS System's Exception Queue. Manages customer service issues and communicate and interpret departmental and hospital policies and procedures to customers with clarity and completeness. Manages and maintains patient Film Jackets, Inserts, and Films using appropriate tracking processes and procedures. Follows organizational safety, security, and infection control standards. Follows all HIPAA, risk management, compliance, privacy, and confidentiality standards. Respects the rights and properties of others at all times including patient healthcare information (PHI) according to administrative policies and all applicable laws and regulations. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience
Generally requires 1 to 3 years of related experience.
Education
Associate's degree in related field is required.
Skill
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.
Credentials
Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
