Job Title: Senior Accountant
Job Description:
Seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join a local Tampa Bay Company. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing various accounting functions and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data and provide explanations for variances as needed.
  2. General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger and perform reconciliations of accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data. Review and analyze account balances and transactions to identify discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  3. Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and recommend enhancements to strengthen controls and improve efficiency. Assist in the documentation and testing of internal controls as required by regulatory standards.
  4. Audit Support: Coordinate and assist with external audits and regulatory examinations. Prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor inquiries, and ensure timely completion of audit requests.
  5. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the finance department. Streamline accounting processes, develop standardized procedures, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
  3. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements.
  4. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems preferred.
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  6. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;
  • other business and organizational needs.

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
