Compensation Analyst II:
Under the direction of the HR Director, the Compensation Analyst II performs a variety of professional, technical, and analytical compensation duties related to the maintenance, implementation and administration of the university's compensation policies and programs.

Responsible for administering organizational compensation programs including, but not limited to evaluating and analyzing salary data, determining pay grades and FLSA designations and analyzing data from survey sources. Conducts market analysis of organization jobs to determine competitive positioning of the organizations pay programs.

Compensation Analyst II position information:
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
  • Salary Grade: 14
  • Salary Range: $82,000 to $87,000 depending on experience
Compensation Analyst I:
Under the direction of the HR Director, the Compensation Analyst I performs first level compensation duties related to the maintenance, implementation and administration of the university's compensation policies and programs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to reviewing salary data to make recommendations for hiring, assisting with compensation surveys, and maintaining accuracy within various systems and platforms supporting the organization's compensation program.

Compensation Analyst I position information:
  • FLSA Status: Non-exempt
  • Salary Grade: 12
  • Salary Range: $67,000 to $72,000 depending on experience

Minimum Education and Experience
Compensation Analyst II:
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Three (3) years or more experience in compensation administration with hands on knowledge of market pricing and job evaluation techniques; and calculation and interpretation of mathematical formulas such as percentages, ratios, statistical average, median, and multiple regressions. Advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Excel.
An equivalent level of education and/or experience may be considered.

Compensation Analyst I:Bachelor's degree in related field.
Two (2) years or more years' experience in compensation administration with hands-on knowledge of market pricing and job evaluation techniques.

Preferred Education and Experience
Compensation Analyst II - Preferred Education & Experience:
  • Experience leading and/or working with a third party to complete an organization wide compensation review.
  • Supervisory or lead worker experience.
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft HRIS and job data information.

  • Experience using external compensation related platforms and tools (ex. Payfactors)
  • CCP Certification
  • PHR or SPHR Certification

  • Conducts research, analyzes data, and prepares recommendations requiring a broad understanding of compensation techniques, methods, and practices.
  • Conducts job analyses to determine appropriate salary levels according to compensation guidelines.
  • Formulates recommendations regarding salary structure, FLSA exemptions, and job descriptions.
  • Reviews annual salary adjustment requests in accordance with established guidelines, policy and practices.
  • Participates in special studies of problem areas requiring job analysis, job evaluation or similar techniques.
  • Keep abreast of new and emerging compensation trends, creative solutions, and legislative changes.
  • Collects and analyzes competitive salary to determine institution's market relationship.
  • Leads the University's participation in salary surveys to benchmark, analyze, and collect competitive salary information to determine company's competitive position.
  • Responsible for maintenance of compensation program information posted on the Office of Human Resources website.
  • May lead the work of other compensation staff.
  • Participate / lead special projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Compensation Analyst I Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support activities to develop and administer compensation policies and programs.
  • Assists with developing and updating the University's compensation program, including the annual salary change process and monitoring adjustments to ensure accuracy and organizational equity.•
  • Conducts research, analyzes data, and prepares recommendations requiring a broad understanding of compensation techniques, methods, and practices.
  • Review proposed salary adjustments for conformance to established guidelines, policy, and practices.
  • Reviews requests and provides recommended course of action for new or revised position requests to determine appropriate salary grade assignment.
  • Works closely with employment specialists to provides counsel for employment offers.
  • Audits jobs for content and assists departments to prepare job descriptions.
  • Maintains job description database, job code database, and job code templates within applicant tracking system.
  • Collects and analyzes competitive salary to determine institution's market relationship.
  • Formulates basic recommendations regarding salary structure, FLSA exemptions, and job descriptions.
  • Assists with University's participation in salary surveys to benchmark, analyze, and collect competitive salary information to determine company's competitive edge.
  • Assist in maintaining compensation program information published on the Office of Human Resources website.
  • Participates in special studies of problem areas requiring job analysis, job evaluation or similar techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.
