JOB DESCRIPTION: The Clinical Dietitian plans, directs, and provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to outpatient oncology in designated areas/programs. The dietitian is responsible for nutrition screenings, assessments, the prescription of nutrition orders, ongoing monitoring of patients’ care, and documentation of care plan in accordance with department and hospital policies. The dietitian provides education to patients, students, community members, and health care staff, and acts as a clinical preceptor to dietetic students in accordance with ASCEND guidelines and affiliation agreements. The dietitian participates in department and hospital-wide activities pertaining to quality improvement, professional development and community education. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics; registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and Vermont State Certification as a dietitian required. UVM MC requires completion of registration and certification at start of employment. EXPERIENCE: Must have experience in providing MNT to acute inpatients whose needs include oral, enteral (via tube) and parenteral nutrition, and in recommending and treating inpatients and outpatients needing diverse oral therapeutic diets for patients and their families with diverse cultural backgrounds. #J-18808-Ljbffr
