iOS Engineer, Banking

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality through Afterpay, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
Job Description
The Banking Mobile team is a mobile development team focused on delivering high quality and seamless banking experiences. The team is responsible for both the mobile product surface for all of Square's banking products, and also a backend service that orchestrates service APIs to power our banking products. You will design, develop, and maintain functionality for Square's entire Banking product ecosystem. You will collaborate with other mobile and backend engineers plus our product and design teams to ensure that millions of merchants have a remarkable and reliable experience banking with Square.

- Design and implement features as part of Square's top banking initiative in support of a seamless banking experience.
- Build into our backend orchestration service.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other mobile and backend engineers.
- Participate in the full lifecycle of product development, from early definition through release and beyond.
You have:
- 5+ years of iOS software development experience.
- Motivation to build beautiful, intuitive products for the banking industry.
- Strong communication skills and a strong desire to deliver a great product.
- A deep sense of customer empathy and an interest in the team's product direction.
- [Beneficial] Experience with one or more banking products.
- [Beneficial] Experience with backend service development.
- Swift for our app and Kotlin for our backend service
- Square's open source iOS frameworks: Workflow (state management)
- UIKit, CoreAnimation, SQLite, Accessibility
- Unit tests, snapshot tests, integration tests
- Service APIs and Protocol Buffers
- Bazel for our build environments
