RESPONSIBILITIES - Job Summary

The Senior Accountant oversees and assists with various accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue and asset accounting, as well as associated analysis and reporting. The Senior Accountant also evaluates and makes improvements to accounting processes while ensuring that practices comply with organization accounting policies and applicable laws and regulations. ACTIVITY - Accounting Primary Duties

Time Allocation: ~ 50%
  • Payroll - integrate data between ADP and NetSuite bi-weekly.
  • General Ledger - Maintain active and inactive accounts, process Journals as needed.
  • Manage daily bank reconciliations and postings.
  • Percent of Completion Analysis/Review - Maintain Project Margin Reporting and Revenue Recognition.
  • Inventory Analysis/Review - Coordinate and support Production and SmartDoor Teams; Record any adjustments in NetSuite.
  • Account Reconciliation - Balance Sheet Accounts each month.
  • Bank Statement Reconciliations within two (2) business days.
  • Capital/Fixed Assets Reconciliation within two (2) business days.
  • Month and End-Year processes within eight (8) business days for the month and 30 days for year end.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports and statements with causal information.
  • Monitor and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles as needed.
  • Annual audit related activities.
  • Improve systems and procedures; initiate corrective actions.
  • Annual Budget support and quarterly forecasts.
  • Monitor and analyze Project Profitability for active projects.
ACTIVITY - Billing

Time Allocation: ~ 15%
  • Monthly billing activities completed in accordance with each contract document
  • Complete billing forms as specified by contract
  • Tracking payment status, including researching past due invoices and collaborating with project teams on collection activities
  • Generating weekly, bi-weekly and monthly reports used for analyzing outstanding receivables
ACTIVITY - Accounts Payable

Time Allocation: ~ 10%
  • Review Automated AP data prior to import and posting to NetSuite.
  • Organize, review, analyze and code transactions (i.e., credit cards) that don't go through AP Automation.
  • Annual 1099 filing.
  • Monitor Cash Flow data on a weekly basis.
ACTIVITY - NetSuite

Time Allocation: ~ 15%
  • Work with Sr. Business Analyst to streamline accounting functions and reports.
  • Serve as NetSuite Power User for Financial Operations.
  • Assist Team Members on the use of NetSuite, as necessary.
  • Assist the Estimator when necessary to develop proper costing budget.
ACTIVITY - Team Veritas

Time Allocation: ~ 10%
  • Attend and participate in scheduled meetings.
  • Support cross functional team initiatives.
  • Serve as brand ambassador of Veritas; Create and develop excellent relationships with key contacts
  • Participate in Veritas CARES community events when possible.
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities; give and welcome feedback, contribute to building positive team spirit; put success of team above own interests.
  • Willingness to perform any and all duties as assigned by leadership to support the team; respectful attitude and professional approach to leadership decisions.
  • Participate in events and any other activities defined and required by leadership.

Required Skills
  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance, prefer at least 6 years experience.
  • Proven working experience as a Senior Accountant / Senior Financial Analyst / or Senior Project Finance.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook), and with accounting software, NetSuite preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
  • Hight attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently, or as part of a team.
  • Critical thinking and strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Able to set and achieve goals; persistent to overcome obstacles; measures self against standard of excellence.
