Volunteer & Work Experience Co-ordinator

We are delighted to be recruiting for a part time Volunteer & Work Experience Co-ordinator to work at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. This is a fixed term contract until 31st December 2025, working 25hours per week, or approximately 3 days.
The role
The purpose of the Volunteer & Work Experience Co-ordinator role is to build a team of volunteers from the Royal Hospital Chelsea community, veteran community (including spouses of Service personnel) and wider area to support the activities in our new Visitor, Outreach and Heritage Centre. Working closely with our Volunteer Manager, the Co-ordinator will organise volunteer recruitment days and events to acknowledge and thank volunteers for their invaluable contribution.
The successful candidate will also develop a work experience programme for young people. This includes internships, opportunities for Master’s students to undertake project based work, rolling work experience opportunities and events for local people to engage with the Royal Hospital’s heritage.
The post-holder will sit within the new Audience Engagement team, working closely with volunteers and partners, such as Chelsea Pensioner tour and museum guides, other universities offering heritage programmes, local secondary schools and academies, and the project’s design team.

You will have experience of supporting a volunteer programme and work experience opportunities, coordinating training for volunteers, volunteer reward schemes and managing rotas. You willlove working with teams, meeting people, and forming partnerships. You gain satisfaction from enabling others to achieve their potential and you motivate those around you.
