Summary

Event Coordinator will serve as the liaison between St. Joseph and the families in coordinating various parish services including weddings, funerals, quinceaeras/sweet 16s, and other liturgical events as necessary. The Event Coordinator will serve as Sacristan in these Liturgies; playing a key role in creating a welcoming and enriching environment for our community and ensuring the success of various Catholic events.

Responsibilities

•Works with individuals in ensuring all Church teachings and Liturgical guidelines are followed while accommodating their wishes for Liturgies;

•Serves as Sacristan during Liturgies;

•Ensures the facility (Church, Chapel, or hall) is prepared for event to include temperature control, setup, all Lectors have copies of the readings, etc.;

•Oversees the opening and locking up of facilities, ensuring that all security procedures are followed;

•Works with individuals in the selection of the readings, Lectors, musicians; and the possibility of having Altar Servers;

•Coordinates and communicates with the Liturgical Coordinator;

•For weddings, works with the couple in identifying items to be used in the ceremony i.e. coins (arras), Rosary, Flowers to Our Blessed Mother, etc.;

•After wedding ceremony; provides the couple their certificate, ensures the Church or Chapel is in orderly fashion to include the Sacristy and secures the signed license for St. Joseph's records;

•For weddings and quinceaeras/sweet 16s, coordinates the rehearsal prior to the event date;

•Serves as coordinator for any hall rental events;

•Maintains positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and community members who use the facility.

Requirements

•Must be a Roman Catholic in good standing with familiarity of the faith;

•Have a strong commitment of the mission and processes of St. Joseph Catholic Church;

•Must have experience with event coordination;

•Ability to work independently and as part of a team and work well within systems/structure;

•Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;

•Ability to perform physical tasks associated with job;

•Ability to collaborate cohesively with staff, volunteers, and parish community;

•Ability to always maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

•High School diploma or equivalent;

•Excellent verbal and written communication, human relations, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with the public, clergy, staff, and Archdiocesan staff;

•Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities and to organize work effectively;

•A strong commitment to maintaining the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality;

•Bilingual (English/Spanish) - preferred;

•Possess knowledge of Catholic practices and values preferred.
