Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist Job Specialty: Acute Care - Speech Language Pathology Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day, 4x10-Hour (07:00 - 17:00) or 5x8s (flexible) Guaranteed Hours: 70 hours per 2 weeks Experience: Minimum 1 year (First timers accepted) License: Pending License Accepted Certifications: BLS, Alaska SLP License Must-Have: Acute Care Experience, FEES, MBS-IMPs Job Description: - Work in an inpatient/acute care setting with a unit census of 50-70 patients daily.- Collaborate with 5-6 SLPs scheduled on weekdays and 3-4 on weekends.- Conduct FEES and MBS assessments, and complete MBS-IMP.- Treat patients across a spectrum from ICU level to SNF/OP level, though ICU rotation is not initially required.- Review and evaluate patients for clinical readiness to cover ICU when needed.- Required to work some weekends.- Responsibilities include handling cases of aphasia, apraxia, dementia/Alzheimer's, and managing telephone calls.- Preferred skills include coma stimulation (adult), anoxia, transfer training, video fluoroscopy, and experience with multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy.- Engage in a professional environment within a Magnet Facility and Level II Trauma Center.- Complete necessary orientation and modules before start and annually.- Compliance with health and safety protocols, including required vaccinations.- Required to work two out of the three major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year.- Ensure effective communication and coordination with hospital staff and affiliated hospitals nearby.
