Job Description:

This Scheduling Specialist position is responsible for but not limited to:
  • Schedules and coordinates complex exams ordered by oncology providers. Needs to understand that oncology infusions need to be coordinated with lab appointments, provider appointments, imaging appointments and length of infusions vary by chemo protocol.
  • Need to have an understanding of oncology injections, take home pumps, when to make pump off appointments.
  • Needs to be able to triage patient appointments based on provider orders and severity of patients having symptoms.
  • Assures that patients undergoing concurrent treatment have coordinated appointments between radiation and medical oncology.
  • Needs an in-depth knowledge of insurance and what treatments/drugs require prior authorization.


Clinical or Non-Clinical options available

Non-Clinical:

GED or High School Diploma required.

6 months related work experience preferred. Experience with computers and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Clinical:

Minimum of Associate Degree in the clinical area of Nursing or Radiology required.

2 years experience in clinical field and 1 year scheduling experience preferred.

AART, LPN, RN license required or recently held.
