The Cellular Assessment Engineer will be responsible for conducting on-site assessments to validate cellular coverage in hospitals and clinics using SeeHawk devices. This role involves performing signal strength measurements, analyzing data, and providing detailed reports and recommendations to ensure optimal cellular coverage and connectivity for healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Onsite Cellular Coverage Assessment:
    • Conduct comprehensive cellular signal strength and quality assessments using SeeHawk devices and software.
    • Map out the physical environment within hospitals and clinics, identifying coverage gaps, dead zones, and potential interference sources.
    • Perform in-building testing, including walk tests and stationary measurements, to evaluate signal levels for various carriers and technologies (e.g., 4G, 5G).
    • Identify the locations of the base stations servicing each site, some of which are rural.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze data collected from SeeHawk devices to assess the quality of cellular coverage, including signal strength, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and data throughput.
    • Generate detailed reports, including heat maps, signal strength maps, and recommendations for improving coverage.
    • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including healthcare facility administrators and network engineers.
  • Network Design and Optimization Support:
    • Collaborate with network engineers to provide insights for designing Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) or small cell solutions based on assessment results.
    • Recommend and validate potential locations for cellular enhancement devices (e.g., repeaters, boosters) within the facility.
    • Assist in the deployment and testing of new cellular infrastructure to ensure effective coverage.
  • Client Interaction and Support:
    • Work closely with hospital and clinic administrators to understand their cellular coverage needs and concerns.
    • Provide technical guidance and support during and after the assessment process, addressing any questions or issues.
    • Train clients or internal teams on best practices for maintaining and improving cellular coverage.
  • Compliance and Standards:
    • Ensure all assessments and reports comply with industry standards and healthcare facility requirements.
    • Stay updated on the latest cellular technologies, tools, and best practices, particularly those relevant to healthcare environments.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all assessments, including site notes, maps, and test results.
    • Document recommendations and follow-up actions for future reference and implementation.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cellular network assessments or RF engineering.
    • Proficiency in using SeeHawk devices for cellular coverage validation is required.
    • Experience working in healthcare environments is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of cellular network principles, including RF propagation, signal attenuation, and interference management.
    • Familiarity with cellular technologies and standards (e.g., LTE, 5G).
    • Ability to interpret complex data and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., iBwave, DAS certification) are a plus.
    • Training or certification in SeeHawk software is desirable.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to carry and operate survey equipment, including SeeHawk devices, laptops, and signal analyzers.
  • Comfortable walking and standing for extended periods during site assessments.
  • Ability to travel to various hospital and clinic sites as needed.
Work Environment:
  • Work may involve visits to various healthcare environments, including hospitals, clinics, and medical offices.
