The Messer Rental Division operates as an integrated and integral supplier to Messer Construction Co. operations teams, craft professionals and its subcontractors for high quality construction equipment, general tools, select construction services and consumable items. In 2021 the Rental Divisions revenue exceeded $23M and achieved best in class ROE and ROI. The Messer rental division is a key focus in the companies five-year strategic plan in which the company is seeking to expand and invest in the Division. We have experienced significant and steady growth and are seeking a high energy, motivated leader to manage the day-to-day business, seek out improvement and growth opportunities, and lead the current team of 40+ highly qualified personnel to attain best in class standing.

The General Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Messer Construction Rental Division. This includes leading all aspects of Sales, Customer Service, Fleet Management, and Logistics, including achievement of financial and performance goals. The role is also responsible for the unit's operational and financial reporting functions and providing a work environment that will optimize the personal growth of employees, profitable growth of the business and the satisfaction of both our internal and external customers.

**Responsibilities**

* Drive the *Zero Injury* Safety culture in everything they do. Ensure that all employees work to achieve safety performance targets and adherence to our Health, Safety and Environmental standards.

* Develop and execute the rental division business and marketing plan.

* Motivate and lead a high-performing team of Department Managers to achieve Division goals.

* Lead the Divisions operations and support services including the identification, development, and implementation of Best in Class business practices and processes.

* Provide proactive and effective communication

* Effectively plan, communicate and drive engagement with the leadership of each Messer region.

* Oversee the evaluation, allocation, and management of the asset lifecycle for all physical assets, employment decisions, and financial resources to meet ROE targets.

* Set the financial direction of the division utilizing annual budgets and ensure financial stability and accurate reporting and forecasting through audits and internal controls.

* Lead and manage on-going relationships with our key suppliers and develop strategic partnerships as necessary to foster our expanding needs.

* Attract, recruit and retain a highly motivated team. Provide mentorship and personal investment into this team as a cornerstone to their career development to support our growth from within model. Foster a success-oriented, empowered and accountable environment within the Division.

* Sets clear target metrics with time bound expectations to drive an environment of accountability and continuous improvement.

* Identify potential new streams of revenue for the rental division that were once subcontracted by projects but could be owned, managed, and delivered internally as a source of growth.

* Be a continual student of the industry to advance and keep the Messer Rental Division at the forefront.

**Requirements**

* Bachelors degree in Business Management, Construction Management, Engineering or other related field with at least 5 years of Rental Industry experience or 7-10+ years managing a rental business or dealership with multiple facilities.

* A courageous leader not afraid to challenge the status quo and possessing the ability to garner support from stakeholders.

* Strong leadership skills, including team building, goal setting, motivating, training, mentorship, and communication skills.

* Command of P&L, asset utilization and other key financial controls.

* Strong experience in asset lifecycle management from specification to retirement.

* Experience in outside sales or other experience in negotiation and influencing.

* High level of accountability, time management and willingness to learn all aspects of the business.

* Keen strategic thinking and planning ability.

* Experience leading a sales/operations team to identify and track opportunities and execute strategies to procure sales.

* Effective conflict resolution and problem solving skills.

* Asset and service logistics experience is preferred.

* Experience with parts and resale inventory management preferred.

* This position reports to executive level Vice President
