ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Perform all pharmacist duties within your assigned schedule, including prescription transcription, order entry, and quality checks for accurate dosage and drug interactions.
- Prepare and oversee medication preparation, ensuring accuracy of patient information prior to dispensing.
- Compound, package, and label prescribed medications as needed.
- Conduct thorough quality checks on prescriptions for correct dosage, formulation, and frequency, including drug utilization review and analysis of interactions and contraindications.
- Verify all medication prior to dispensing and delivery.
- Provide drug education and counseling to patients following departmental policies.
- Dispense prescribed medical and surgical products, recording dispensed prescriptions.
- Enter prescriptions into pharmacy management systems (e.g., QS1).
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including customer service representatives and technicians, in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Train and orient new team members, offering coaching and career development support.
- Adjust staff assignments as necessary for optimal operations.
- Liaise with physicians and benefits providers to process prescriptions.
- Complete third-party insurance forms and related paperwork.
- Maintain professional and confidential customer service.
- Adhere to departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy practice rules and regulations.
- Provide in-service education to pharmacy staff, students, and healthcare practitioners.
- Participate in departmental staff development conferences and activities.
- Develop and maintain competencies through continued education.
- Proficiently use pharmacy technology, including automated dispensing machines, robotics, and computer applications.
- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in the pharmacy workspace.
- Propose and participate in performance or quality improvement projects.
- Engage in ongoing performance and quality improvement initiatives.
- A Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy program is required.
- An active Pharmacist licensure (in good standing) to practice pharmacy in the state in which you are applying in.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a State Board of Pharmacy Preceptor's license by the current state you are applying to within one year of hire.
- 4+ years' work experience in ambulatory care pharmacy setting post PharmD is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in medications, drug interactions, medical procedures, therapies, diagnoses, and disease states is essential.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills for effective communication with diverse stakeholders including hospital staff, patients, families, physicians, and colleagues.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, prioritize duties, and adhere to deadlines.
- Organized work approach with a proficiency in maintaining accurate documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
- Self-directed with strong self-management abilities; capable of identifying and addressing issues independently.
- Proven track record in process improvement and a keen eye for detail and precision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook) and web browsers.
- Minimal travel required for this position.
- Clearway Health Specialty Pharmacies, serving patients in hospitals, health systems, and communities, may require employees at client sites to work on company-recognized holidays.
