The Junior Accountant is responsible for assisting the accounts payable team and the accounting manager with accounts payable and general business accounting.

This is a hybrid role based in Washington, DC.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in an accounting role.
  • Capable of working under pressure and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Good communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented individual.
  • Knowledge of accounting software/ERPs.
  • Experience with MS Office especially Excel.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities
  • Assists with wire setup in CashPro.
  • Assists with vendor setup in JAMIS.
  • Assists with processing ACH and checks.
  • Assists Manager with monthly posting to GL.
  • Prepares administrative vouchers and support payments.
  • Assists with pulling support documentation for annual audit.
  • Creates and maintains vendor files in accounting software and corresponds with vendors to ascertain complete files such as W8 and W9 forms.
  • Provides backup support for other accounting job functions as needed.
  • Enters transaction and financial activity in accounting system to include Accounts Payable vouchers, WT vouchers, and WT/MU vouchers.
