Budget Analyst Junior

ABOUT THIS ROLE
St. Michael's Inc., an employee-owned company, has an opening for a Budget Analyst Junior delivering "cradle-to-grave" budgeting services to a new DHS client. Candidates should have experience in supporting mission delivery with informed decision-making by employing analytical capabilities and providing financial and budgetary transparency to support mission execution. Washington DC on-site with potential for a hybrid (on-site and remote) schedule
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline is required.
- Six (6) years' work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. An associate's degree plus 4 years' work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Active Public Trust clearance
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the "cradle to grave" budget cycle in the following areas:
- Budget formulation;
- Spend plan creation; and
- Execution of current fiscal year budgets.
- Examine budget estimates for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with procedures and regulations.
- Analyze budgeting and accounting reports.
- Assist in recording obligations into the Financial System within two (2) days of obligation.
- Work across the organization to correct known obligation errors; provide supporting documents to questions about obligations; and report on obligation timeliness, new obligations values versus contract closeout de-obligations, backlogs, and error rates.
