**Job Description**
Come join us in Intel's Ethernet Products Group (EPG) which is part of Intel's Data Center Group (DCG). We are looking for motivated, passionate, and talented senior software engineers to join our Ethernet Linux driver development and technology pathfinding team. We're a strong, vibrant cross-site team which helps drive Intel Ethernet technology and products (Foundational NICs, Smart NICs and IPUs) to position Intel X86 Encoder Decoder (Intel XED) as the server platform of choice and Intel Ethernet products as Ethernet of choice for the Cloud, Communications and Data Center deployments.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to research prevailing cloud use cases, workloads, distributed applications, and intersection of networking technology with these use cases. You will need skills to dive deep into Linux Ethernet driver, Linux Kernel's networking stack, Ethernet hardware and IA server platforms. You will utilize these skills to analyze network performance in distributed application environment and drive new features in Ethernet driver, kernel Ethernet stacks and Intel Ethernet products. You will have an excellent opportunity to influence various teams in DCG platform group and shape the future Ethernet features in Intel platforms and Ethernet products.
Your responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:
- Performs network product design, development, testing, documentation, and analysis of software applications.
- Development of new programs and subprograms, as well as, enhancements, modifications, and corrections to existing software.
- Designing application, writing code, completing programming, and developing and executing testing and debugging routines, and documenting work and results.
- Develop or executing project plans, budgets, and schedules and for documentation of work and results. - Develop software applications for external customers.
In this position you will gain invaluable experience which will allow growth and expanded opportunities within this business group as well as future possible opportunities with other business groups within Intel.
**Qualifications**
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Education Requirement:
-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 10 years of industry work experience.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- 12 Years of experience in Technical Leadership in the Open Source development space
- 12 Years of experience in Open Source development experience, driver and Linux kernel development experience is required
- 10 Years of experience in IA and Embedded environment
- 10 Years of experience in Software Development: C Programming, Device Driver development, Linux Kernel development, Protocol stack development/enhancements e.g. TCP/IP, UDP/IP, Socket layer development/enhancements and adjacencies e.g. libevent, epoll.
- 10 Years of experience in Linux kernel development with emphasis on the network stack and its interfaces is required e.g. Programming experience at the sockets layer, protocol layer, device layer and network virtualization
- Experience in developing and delivering Linux networking drivers for IA and embedded systems for Cloud Service Providers
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Computer Architecture, OS internals and Networking essential
- Experience with TCP/IP, and new and emerging Tunneling encapsulating protocols such as VxLAN, NVGRE, familiarity with network benchmarks and performance evaluation methods
- Experience with eBPF, User mode networking and OpenVswitch/VxLAN/NSH development is also desired
- Experience with Enterprise, Data Center and Cloud Markets and customers, related use cases and workloads
- Possess a strong internal and external network of Open Source developers (community and OSV), users, customers and decision makers. Positive reputation in the Open Source Community
