We are seeking a Systems Engineer (based in Elgin, IL; Hybrid) responsible for designing and quoting new cable assemblies to support the HARTING Customized Solutions business (HCS). The Systems Engineer will function as the technical liaison between HARTING sourcing and manufacturing and all outside entities (outside sales, distribution, and end customers).

To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to:
  • Assist customers to complete assemblies with Value Added solutions. Work directly with the customers and the sales team to determine product requirements.
  • Use technical knowledge of HARTING, Inc. connectors and capabilities to provide the customer with a custom solution that meets their needs.
  • Review and parse all technical specifications and drawings.
  • Estimate production times, materials and tooling to generate a quotation for the customer.
  • Provide technical consultation, leadership, and liaison with outside vendors for products.
    and materials used to manufacture valued-added cable assemblies.
  • Work closely with the Quality Engineer and others in establishing root causes and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provide support for New Product Introductions (NPI).
  • Travel to customer locations to support the implementation of new assemblies.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and experience to thrive in this role:
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering (EE or ME) from four-year College or University;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of important QC principles
  • AutoCAD or other 2D/ 3D CAD software
  • 4 years of engineering work experience in a related industry preferred
  • Compliance knowledge - UL, CE, CSA, etc. preferred
  • Previous experience designing and quoting wire harnesses preferred
