The Project Manager will spearhead the work of the Research & Business Stewardship unit under the Clinical Data Enterprise and Stewardship division of the School of Applied Computational Sciences (SACS). The Research & Business Stewardship unit provides analytical support to Meharry academic and non-academic units where analytics can inform use of resources to create better outcomes. The unit also creates and deploys cutting edge new technologies for SACS clients projects. The Project Manager will ensure that the projects are meeting program requirements at all times and business risks are effectively managed.

Gathering, evaluating, and prioritizing requests for software product (and business process) changes, enhancements, and new features.

Evaluate new technologies and enhancements that may be incorporated into future releases of the product (or business process).

Develop high performing data analysis and software development teams; develop a culture of innovation, experimentation and iterative development.

Manage technical operations, infrastructure costs, and collaborate with product management and business stakeholders to deliver data analysis and software projects on schedule.

Participate in all product activities related to release and iteration planning, to ensure that the teams have a clear understanding of the goals and can complete development on schedule.

Create clear and thorough acceptance criteria to ensure that the teams understand when work is complete; verify that the acceptance criteria has been met, and participate in the retrospective.

Track project issues to completion and support the data analysis and software development teams in anticipating bottlenecks, providing escalation management, anticipating and making tradeoffs, and balancing the business needs versus technical constraints.

Maintain close relationships with all internal stakeholders in order to communicate upcoming releases, as well as gathering feedback on customer and prospect needs.

Collaborate with management to provide product status and reports on roadmap progress.

Provide product demonstrations.

Responsible for staff management and development, including mentoring and performance evaluations.

Evangelize technical vision among multiple SACS teams and influence them to deliver on specific capabilities needed to accomplish teams goals.

Evaluate technology and platform choices while balancing between time to market, cost, scale, and customer experience.

Communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.

Provide software project planning and management training to various SACS clients.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience with Object Oriented and distributed computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and data management tools.

A deep understanding of software development using Agile principles.

A first-hand working knowledge of current web development and mobile application development technologies.

Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead software development efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions.

Ability to establish credibility and work with key internal and external partners to get things done.

Ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements, and prioritize tasks.

Deep technical knowledge needed in order to understand and work directly with data analysts and software developers to include; describing problems technically, creating and separating tasks based on area and talent, assigning them out, tracking progress and adjusting, and reviewing the code to verify functionality.

Experience leading end-to-end data science project implementation.

Experience working with cross-functional project teams and managing communications including in-person or virtual meetings is preferred.

Motivation to learn, lead, and contribute as a team player on a variety of data and software engineering projects.

Exceptional technical writing skills.

Ability to communicate ideas and execution plans clearly to both technical and non-technical teams.

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent attention to detail.

Ability to develop and deliver presentations.

Ability to plan, assess, and evaluate programs.

**Required Experience**

Masters Degree in IT Project Management, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.

Minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience applying software project planning and management to real-world data problems.

Minimum of three (3) years of people management experience, including hiring and ongoing performance management
