The Role:

The Manufacturing Excellence (ME) Performance Manager position is responsible for maximizing performance improvement and cost savings by proactively identifying areas for improvement, managing lean initiatives and projects, utilizing lean tools and techniques, analyzing and reporting key metrics, communicating Manufacturing Excellence activities and training employees to accomplish the same.

What You'll Do:

  • Develops continuous improvement plans and projects by translating business objectives into actionable projects.

  • Train and develop employees in improvement processes and lean concepts.

  • Develops, leads and communicates continuous improvement reports of overall ME activities including accomplishments, participation, projected activities and anticipated needs.

  • Plans and facilitates ME events

  • Acts as a lean/ ME partner to all departments and levels, challenging processes, proposing ideas and facilitating change.

  • Identifies improvement opportunities to improve quality, reduce costs, maximize efficiency, reduce waste and coaches others to recognize opportunities.

  • Tracks progress and cost reduction on process improvements.

  • Leads improvement project teams and implementation of process changes.

  • Stay current in continuous learning concepts

  • Creates a culture of continuous improvement.

What You'll Have:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including Outlooks, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Demonstrated skills of strong verbal and written communications

  • Demonstrated skills of effective organizational, planning and time management.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective training in a classroom environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.

  • Knowledge of lean tools (Visual Management, 5 Why, PDCA, TPM, Kaizen, A3, SMED, etc.)

1. Bachelor's/technical degree or equivalent job experience

2. Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or other

3. 3-5 years' experience in lean and continuous improvement

4. 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing setting preferred

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. Work environment includes ~95% indoors; 5% outdoors and occasional exposure to:

  • Chemical, biological and other hazards

  • High places

  • Extreme heat/cold

  • Extreme humidity/wet environments

  • Atmosphere (poor lighting, ventilation)

  • Heights with safety guards or equipment

  • Moving equipment

  • Dust, fumes and gases

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs.

Must be capable of performing necessary physical activities in office and field environments including:

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling items up to 21-50 lbs;

  • Occasional bending/stooping; kneeling; crawling; climbing; twisting head and/or back; reaching overhead; heading/grasping;

  • Repetitive use of legs, arms and hands.

  • Capable of sitting at a desk work station for extended periods

  • Seeing, hearing and talking for communication

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work. This is a full-time position. Days and standard hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Times may vary depending on projects or event needs.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
