South Mountain Creamery has an immediate opening for an assistant Comptroller based in Middletown, Maryland.

The assistant comptroller is responsible for assisting the comptroller in overseeing the accounting and financial operations of South Mountain Creamery, a family-owned dairy farm and delivery service. The assistant comptroller will ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies. The assistant comptroller will also help prepare and analyze financial reports, manage cash flow, and assist with budgeting and forecasting.

Responsibilities

Assist the comptroller in preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records and transactions
Monitor and reconcile cash balances, and intercompany accounts
Coordinate and assist with external audits and tax filings
Develop and maintain internal controls and policies to ensure compliance and efficiency
Analyze financial data and provide insights and recommendations to management
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Perform ad hoc financial projects and tasks as assigned by the comptroller
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Minimum of five years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or agricultural industry
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, such as QuickBooks
Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and internal controls
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow
