As the Specialist II, Benefits, you'll play an instrumental role in supporting the day-to-day administration of various U.S. employee benefit programs, including health and welfare plans, 401(k) plans, leave of absence administration, tuition reimbursement, and well-being initiatives. You'll lead several Total Rewards processes including managing the leave of absence process, addressing Associate inquiries through the benefits inbox, and collaborating with HR business partners and external vendors. You will also play a critical role in the annual benefits open enrollment process, ensuring accurate system updates and effective benefit communications.

Additionally, as a main benefits liaison to the business, you'll facilitate new hire benefits orientations, coordinate wellness activities, maintain compliance with policy updates and legislative changes, and support the benefit invoicing process.

This role will be hybrid based out of our Niles, IL Corporate HQ.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with design, implementation, and day-to-day administration of benefit programs, including health & welfare benefit plans, 401(k) plan, leave of absence administration, tuition reimbursement and well-being initiatives.
  • Oversee the leave of absence process with third-party absence administrator to ensure accurate internal records within HRIS, payroll and time-keeping system.
  • Serve as first point of contact to provide guidance and support to Associates and Managers regarding the leave of absence process and policies.
  • Regularly monitor and manage the benefits inbox, ensuring Associate questions and concerns are addressed efficiently and effectively, and escalating issues with external vendors when necessary.
  • Collaborates with HRBPs and other internal constituents to provide counsel on benefit related issues and continuously improve Associate resources and communications.
  • Support annual benefits open enrollment planning and execution including enrollment system updates, development of benefit communications and overall project management.
  • Collaborate with external HRIS partner to manage and implement benefit-related system changes (i.e. plan updates, premium changes, approval workflows) and perform related testing.
  • Manage and review enrollment changes in HRIS, ensure accurate benefits deductions, and conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity.
  • Identifies and resolves eligibility file and procedural issues with vendors to determine root cause.
  • Conduct weekly benefits overview as part of new hire orientation.
  • Coordinate annual wellness activities, which may include health fairs, flu vaccines, oversight of a lifestyle spending account program and monthly well-being programming and communications.
  • Stay informed of policy updates, legislative changes, and legal requirements to assist with new and ongoing plan compliance efforts, such as non-discrimination/compliance testing and distribution of required notices.
  • Support benefit invoicing process to reconcile and ensure timely payment at established rates.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
  • Support implementation of new programs and initiatives as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Good business acumen and ability to appropriately handle confidential information
  • Analytical with a high attention to detail
