Overview:

The Senior Automation Engineer 1 provides support for the site wide Building Management System (BMS) and Validated Data System (VDS). This includes implementation of changes to the Utility and Facility Automation systems, updating design documents, executing testing, troubleshooting events, and being a part of on-call support. This role leads projects and handles complex changes while coordinating with other internal and external groups.

Major Accountabilities:

Guides the Utility and Facility Automation team through activities, such as system administration, troubleshooting, software development, maintaining system documentation, change control, interacting with system vendors, and routine maintenance and upgrades
Leads the development for various specification documents (e.g., user requirements specification (URS), functional specification (FS), design qualification (DQ), etc.)
Leads the development for various test protocols and functional testing documents (e.g., installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ), etc.)
Plans and implements the technical direction for small area of responsibility
Leads team members through Automation changes
Makes complex decisions across the site wide Automation systems
Contributes to Automation system hardware and software designs
Conducts training and presents information effectively to team or other stakeholders
Maintains Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliance aspects of validated systems
Participates in audits with customer representatives and regulatory agencies
Provides guidance and mentorship to junior Engineers, as needed
Communicates updates to site leadership on key technical efforts, strategic initiatives, and other relevant information
Collaborates with other departments such as Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Validation)
Serves as on-call support for Automation inquiries and troubleshooting
Other duties, as assigned

Basic Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field with 8 years of Automation, Instrumentation & Controls (I&C), or other relevant technical experience; or
Masters degree in technical field of study relevant to Automation or I&C with 6 years of Automation, I&C, or other relevant technical experience

Preferred Requirements:

Experience working in a GMP or other highly regulated environment
