Reporting to the Presidential Fellow for Diversity, Inclusion, and Access, the Program Manager for Equity and Inclusion will provide leadership in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of intersectional programming to support the advancement of underrepresented faculty and staff. The position will collaborate with key campus partners and academic departments to evaluate policies and practices to foster an inclusive academic culture. Additionally, the Program Manager will develop and facilitate DEI learning opportunities to further DEI knowledge and application across campus.

Mines Diversity, Inclusion & Access (Mines DI&A) was established in 2018 to provide support for institutional-level advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across Mines campus. By providing support services and resources, Mines DI&A aims to nurture and work toward a more inclusive and equitable campus environment for students, staff, and faculty alike. This position will work collaboratively with the Mines DI&A team to advance the goals as outlined in the DI&A Strategic Plan.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of DEI trends in higher education, demonstrated success in leading diversity programs, strong relationship-building skills particularly with underrepresented groups, and the ability to manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.

The work of this position is performed primarily on campus in Golden, Colorado.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead Faculty Development and Academic Culture Initiatives

Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives and leadership development programs to support the success of underrepresented and marginalized groups, with a focus on faculty.

Develop strategic relationships with key campus partners and academic departments to advance an inclusive academic culture and address DEI learning opportunities.

Research and identify emerging trends in DEI with a specific focus on their application in higher education to improve campus through knowledge sharing.

Develop and facilitate education programs for the campus to enhance knowledge of critical DEI topics and help to foster an inclusive campus community.

Review policies and procedures to ensure integration of DEI principles and make recommendations for best practices in collaboration with academic affairs and human resources.

Responsible for resources and budget management for programs, including working with the Mines Foundation, grant programs, and other funding resources to ensure and distribute financial support for community programming.

Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of community programming including annual reports and progress on key outcomes.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in education, diversity/inclusion or closely related field.

4 or more years of experience supporting underrepresented and marginalized groups in higher education or a related field.

Thorough understanding and application of DEI frameworks and their application in complex organizations.

Demonstrated success in creating diversity programs with proven results and successful outcomes.

Knowledge and understanding of program design, execution, and evaluation including data management and program assessment.

Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with key campus partners and individuals with a wide array of background, identities, life experiences, and communication styles.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex and nuanced ideas and thinking behind decisions to multiple audiences and stakeholders in written and oral form.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's or terminal (Ph.D.) degree in related field with four to seven years of progr ssive professional experience.

8 or more years of experience supporting underrepresented and marginalized groups in higher education or a related field.

Demonstrated experience leading advising, workshops, engagement, or teaching on DEI related topics.

Experience providing guidance around policy and practice in a higher education setting.

Experience with assessment of programming and practices through the lens of DEI impact.
