Job Description: Senior Engineer - Residential and Commercial Land Development

Location:

Pleasanton, CA

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer specializing in residential and commercial land development to join our team in Pleasanton, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with expertise in planning, designing, and managing land development projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead high-impact projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the growth and success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership:

Lead and manage residential and commercial land development projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Develop detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for land development projects including site grading, drainage, roadways, and utility infrastructure.

Oversee the preparation and submission of permit applications and technical reports to regulatory agencies.

Technical Expertise:

Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and environmental impact analyses.

Perform complex calculations, modeling, and design using advanced engineering software and tools.

Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and reports prepared by junior engineers.

Quality Assurance and Control:

Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure all engineering work meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor project progress and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.

Address and resolve any technical issues or challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement:

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements and expectations are met.

Provide technical guidance and support to clients and project teams.

Participate in public meetings and presentations to communicate project goals, progress, and outcomes.

Team Mentorship and Development:

Mentor and train junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support to enhance their skills and professional growth.

Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in California.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on residential and commercial land development projects.

Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation).

Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.

Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
