Apogee Engineering is looking for a talented Proposal Writer, Lead to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO, or Beavercreek, OH. This high-impact position will create compliant, responsive, and compelling documents to answer Government solicitations including white papers, sources sought, Requests for Information (RFI), and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) with minimal guidance.

What you'll be doing:

Author all sections of a solicitation (Management, Technical, Past Performance, and Corporate Experience)Conduct technical edits of other’s workParticipate as an author and reviewer in design sessions, working sessions, and color reviews to provide critical feedback to others and accept critiques of your own work to improve responsesCreate compliant, responsive, and compelling documents to answer Government solicitations including white papers, sources sought, Requests for Information (RFI), and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) with minimal guidanceCollaborate with proposal team members such as the proposal manager, capture manager, and graphic artist to design a compliant and compelling proposal solution, outline, and responseCollaborate with operations team members, project managers, and Subject Matter Experts (SME) and actively participate in the overall solutioning processExtract information from Subject Matter Experts (SME) across a variety of highly technical subjects to meet the requirements of the solicitation, and put together a cohesive technical response (This ability includes interviewing; creating, compiling, and analyzing electronic data calls; and data mining from existing material)Analyze and extract requirements from RFP and other solicitation documents such as Performance Work Statements (PWS), Statements of Work (SOW), and Service Level Agreements (SLA) to ensure complianceCreatively connect Apogee’s past experience with new approaches in order to effectively address customer requirements or hot buttonsAct as a volume lead and assign deadlines, review work, and be responsible for overall content submitted by other authorsMeet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; coordinating requirements with contributors; contributing proposal status information during meetingsMaintain quality results by using templates and following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and toneImprove proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate information. Implement improvements during future efforts.What you'll need to have:

Security Clearance Required: Secret ClearancePossess one of the following education and experience combinations:Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience supporting DoD and/or other Government agency proposal efforts.Associate's degree with 11+ years of experience supporting DoD and/or other Government agency proposal efforts.Fourteen+ years of experience supporting DoD and/or other Government agency proposal efforts in lieu of a degree.

APMP Foundation-level certification or understanding and experience applying Shipley methodology to proposal writing (highly preferred)Working knowledge and experience implementing the Shipley Proposal processCompensation & Benefits:

Apogee offers two medical plans, a high deductible health plan with an HSA and HRA and a traditional POS plan with co-pays, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, PTO, paid holidays, parental, military, and jury duty paid leaves. Regular part-time employees scheduled for twenty-four or more hours per work week are eligible for benefits on a pro-rated basis.This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.The base pay for this position ranges from $84,000 to $139,000 across the U.S. There is a different range applicable for specific work locations. Base pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, training, and education.
