Job Description

This role is an integral part of the Accounting and Finance group. The Senior Accountant helps maintain the general ledger, prepares financial statements, supports audits, assists with budgeting and forecasting, evaluates effectiveness of accounting processes, and participates in special project design and implementation.

The salary pay range for this position is: $75,000 to $90,000. This is an exempt position and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate Modern Machinery's core values and promote the mission and vision of the company.
Follow all company policies and regulations for safe work procedures and contribute to the achievement of company safety goals.
Oversee the reconciliation of general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Generate and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to provide insights into the company's financial performance.
Collaborate with management to develop the annual budget and provide financial forecasts and analyses to support strategic decision-making.
Participate in special projects, financial analyses, and process improvements as assigned by management.
Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Evaluate and make improvements to accounting processes while ensuring that practices comply with organization accounting policies and applicable laws and regulations.
Assist with questions or issues that arise in the day-to-day and complete assorted ad-hoc tasks.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Job Requirements:
Proven knowledge of GAAP and understanding of financial statements.
JD Edwards experience is a plus.
SAP Business Objects/Business Intelligence (BI) reporting experience helpful but not required.
Strong quantitative data analysis skills, including advanced Excel skills.
Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment and be detail oriented.
Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities.

Education/Experience:
BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Certified Public Accountant License preferred but not required.
3+ years of experience in accounting or an accounting related field.

Nature and Scope of Job:
Requires prolonged sitting with periodic lifting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching.
