JOBSUMMARY

Thisposition coordinates, plans and implements a comprehensive program of academicand social services to participants. Areas of responsibility include, but arenot limited to academic advising, program planning, publication, programevaluation, goal clarification, participant advocacy, public relations,connecting participants with third party services and coalition building. Theseservices are required by the grant-funded Educational Opportunity Centers.

MAJOR DUTIES

Guide participants through the application for federal student aid and scholarships prior to application for admission to post-secondary education.
Assist participants in developing Individualized Service Plans

Prepare participants to obtain their secondary school diploma or equivalent (GED)

Assist participants in connecting educational and career goals

Prepare participants in the selection of and application to post-secondary institutions.

Administer and/or coordinate the academic and career assessments for program participants.

Conduct individual and small group sessions to address personal, academic and career concerns.

Work in conjunction with the director in order to coordinate needed participant tutorial and/or skills building sessions at designated locations.

Engage in outreach efforts aimed at identifying and engaging program participants.

Perform assessment and implementation of services and activities.

Conduct or arrange workshops, seminars and other events for program participants.

Inform campus and community partners of program objectives, services and procedures; serves as liaison to campus and community partners.

Provide a variety of skills-building and career-learning activities aimed at improving the participants academic and social skills.

Refer participants to outside agencies and locations of support if Educational Opportunity Center resources are unable to meet the participants needs.

In conjunction with the director, serve as liaison to the college, community, and target schools in order to inform them of program activities and participant accomplishments.

Coordinate, schedule, and assist with grant-related services.

Develops and implements new curriculum and programs related to grant goals.

Establish and maintain strong working relationships with campus and community partners.

Maintain database of participant information.

Participate in state, regional and national TRIO conferences and meetings as appropriate.

Attends required training seminars.

Performs related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

Knowledge of federal grant regulations.

Knowledge of program services design and implementation principles.

Knowledge of program evaluation principles.

Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.

Skill in decision making and problem solving.

Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.

Skill in oral and written communication.

SUPERVISORYCONTROLS

Employeereports to the director who provides oversight and guidance.This position does not supervise any otheremployee.

GUIDELINES

Guidelines include Department of Education regulations,Cost Principles for Educational Institutions, grant requirements, and universitypolicies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection andinterpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

The work consists of varied programmatic duties and strict regulation contributes to the complexity of the position.

The purpose of this position is to act as coordinator of the university's grant-funded Educational Outreach Centers Program. Success in this position contributes to the success of program participants.

CONTACTS

Contacts are typically with co-workers, other university personnel, faculty, staff, students, parents, representatives of state and federal agencies, and members of the general public.

Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, and to provide services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and utilizes the sense of smell.

The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a bachelor's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.

Minimum 2 years' experience working in adult education.

Adequate knowledge of post-secondary education, federal student aid, administration and interpretation of educational and career assessments.

Demonstrated ability to work with community agencies, develop partnerships,

Demonstrated understanding of the specific needs of low-income and first-generation college students

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proficient in using Windows, Microsoft Office, and specialized database software such as Blumen or Student Access

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference given to individuals who come from low income, first generation backgrounds

Annualsalary $38,100.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
