Please note, this position is not with FORVIS LLC. We are working with a dynamic construction group located in the Naples, FL area that is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join their team.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the construction firm. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to the growth and success of the company while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the Controller in developing annual budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances, and providing recommendations for cost optimization.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, vendor management, and collections.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Compliance and Taxation: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and assist in the preparation of tax filings, including sales tax, payroll tax, and corporate income tax.
  • Internal Controls: Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate accounting processes and systems to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and promote best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
