The Program Specialist will regularly teach adaptive alpine skiing, sit skiing, snowboarding, ski biking, snowshoeing, cycling, mountain biking, paddle boarding, and/or kayaking seasonally to children, adults, and veterans with disabilities.You will join a team committed to creating access and belonging in the local community. The team creates access and belonging through their passion for skiing, biking, snowboarding, paddling, and more.**WHAT YOULL DO*** Teach alpine skiing, sit skiing, snowboarding, ski biking, snowshoeing, cycling, mountain biking, paddle boarding, and/or kayaking seasonally to children, adults, and veterans with disabilities.* Collaborate with other WAS staff, instructors, and volunteers to ensure overall program success.* Execute on-site logistics with instructors, students, and volunteers including in-person and phone communication, vehicles and equipment, troubleshooting and managing conflicts.* Ensure safety standards are met within program delivery.* Perform equipment safety checks and minor equipment maintenance as needed.* Fit and transport equipment as needed.* Teach program lessons according to WAS teaching progressions.* Learn to adapt all equipment to varying abilities through trainings and lessons.* Develop a strong teaching progression by attending in-house clinics (summer/winter) and PSIA events (winter).* Establish a strong pre-lesson and on-trail assessment.* Track and evaluate student goals and progressions.* Lead volunteer and instructor training in designated program specialty.* Facilitate programs if Program Coordinators are not available.* Communicate respectfully and think critically to promote positive program culture.**WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE*** Must be at least 21 years of age.* 1-2 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.* Current UT drivers license and clean driving record.* First Aid/CPR/AED Certified or willing to obtain certification upon hire.* Strong attention to detail.* Strong communication skills (oral and written).* Commitment to continuous improvement.* Practice effective team behavior and demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships.* Basic equipment maintenance skills in program specialty.* Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive work environment.* A passion for WASs mission and work.* PSIA, AASI, ACA, and/or BICP certification(s) preferred.* Safely drive a pickup truck and 16 ft. trailer. Prior experience preferred or willingness to learn on hire.* Must be competent in Word, Excel, Google Drive, and Salesforce, or willing to learn upon hire.* 2 years experience teaching sports or recreation skills, preferably to people with adaptive needs.* Must be able to ride a bike/trike independently for several hours at a time.
