Job Summary:

The Senior Applications Engineer is responsible for product developments, new vehicle launches, as well as mass production technical supporting for Automotive OEM customers.

Duties:

Development of lightweight aluminum products applications and solutions for the automotive industry and will ensure the smooth incorporation of Constellium's aluminum products into the automotive design and fabrication cycle.
Responsible for the deployment of new aluminum products and mechanical components to achieve lightweight solutions for various vehicles' machinery with concentration on lightweight aluminum-based materials to the automotive market, from analysis of mechanical and functional qualifications to early trials of the aluminum components. Work in close connection with Constellium's product and process engineering.
Develop automotive aluminum sheet applications in cooperation with customers (automotive manufacturers) and in accordance with Constellium's growth strategy, from the aluminum alloy selection to final aluminum product and packaging requirements.
Guides the customers (automotive manufacturers) in the selection of the best aluminum product for each mechanical component, from alloy and temper, to blank size and orientation, to lubricant and packaging.
Coordinates customer field support done by on-site technical representatives
Coordinate with Constellium's supply chain, product, process and quality engineering for the smooth manufacturing and launching of specific aluminum products and take actions to ensure that the supply of material to manufacture the prototype and pre-series events is met according to Constellium's and the customer's requirements.
Responsible for the product development process APQP (Advanced product quality planning) to produce product quality plans which support the development of the aluminum products to satisfy the customer's requirement
Act as a conduit of customers' (automotive manufacturers) needs and trends for aluminum products and components and convey to the product development teams and market development teams at Constellium. Provide engineering insight on customers' needs in order to succeed in production of next generation machines and aluminum components for automotive machinery.
Assist as a technical expert in the problem resolution at customer sites by providing mechanical engineering input for the manufacturing process.
Leads product development team (Application, Product, and Testing Engineers) to ensure products are available and qualified to support the growth strategy of the organization.

Requirements: Master's (or Foreign Equivalent) in metallurgy/manufacturing systems engineering or closely related plus 2 years as an Engineer working in the automotive-related manufacturing industry. Assist in reviewing, analyzing supplier production and quality processes. Manage product, process development, packaging processes through Enterprise Resource Planning. Develop product concepts for RFQ, technical, dimensional and performance specifications. Skilled in PPAP and APQP processes.Up to50% domestic travel to domestic sites. Telecommuting may be allowed.
