Job Overview: Sustaining Engineer Manager

The Sustaining Engineer Manager is someone who is excited to lead a team and experiment, solve problems, troubleshoot complex distributed systems, and invest in stability and scale. This person is highly motivated and has the desire to support and resolve complex customer issues.The optimal candidate will have a proven track record of working with business, functional, and technical teams to implement and support solutions to meet business objectives. This person will lead our Sustaining Engineering team and possess the ability to research problems and break them into discrete parts.

Required Qualifications and Technical Skill:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of Java development, preferably with a focus on enterprise applications
  • Desire to lead sustaining team, prior leadership experience not required
  • Basic knowledge of Oracle and/or PostGRES, with a desire to become an expert
  • Working knowledge of SQL and JDBC
  • Experience with Apache Tomcat, J2EE Application Servers and databases.
  • Familiar with Java Design Patterns
  • Ability to understand customer priorities and engaging them during support escalations.
  • Ability to drive complex customer issues to completion
  • Ability to handle multiple customer issues, coordinating with both internal and external resources to resolve each issue
  • Ability to prioritize task and coordinate ever changing priorities
